Taking on the World

Glory Braddock has long called herself The Best in the World and while there is a lot of pride, some would even say ego, that goes with a statement like that, Glory Braddock has time and again backed up that statement with actions.  Thirteen times she has been a world champion, proving her greatness inside of a wrestling ring.  Outside of the ring she brought GCW back from the brink, resurrecting it and making it the power house it is today, restoring its own greatness, proving her greatness behind the scenes as well.

No longer does she run Global Championship Wrestling.  Now she competes in that company she once owned as she strives for number fourteen, her fourteenth world championship, but before that she has to deal with her sister, Julia Braddock, at For Glory & Gold.

At Resurrection VI, Julia shocked the world and, in what is considered a major upset, defeated Glory via submission, forcing her to tap out.  Now Glory is in an unfamiliar position of having to prove herself once more to the wrestling world.  She has to prove that what happened at Resurrection VI was a fluke and that she still is The Best in the World and that she has not lost her touch.

To do that, she’ll challenge her sister in a sixty minute iron woman match.  After she dispatches of Julia, after she ends this rivalry, Glory fully intends to move on with her career and look to win another world championship.

But don’t think that her career as an executive has ended.  Glory’s career behind the scenes has only just begun as she has gained a new opportunity to prove her worth as an executive; she was hired to be the general manager of the newly resurrected Motor City Wrestling.

The British Bombshell finds herself in the Detroit offices of Motor City Wrestling.  She is sitting in her office, behind her desk, that is right by a large window that overlooks the Detroit skyline.  The beautiful blonde is wearing a black pencil skirt that flatters her curves, a matching black suit coat over a white silky blouse.  Her feet are encased in black peep-toe high heeled pumps.  Her long golden locks of hair hang to just below the shoulders.  Business is being done this very moment, as one can see from her talking on the phone…

“I don’t care about that, Malakai and Whitecloud and the rest of those goons are not going to ruin this place, a place I helped build.” A knocking is heard at the door and Glory sighs with frustration. Clearly she didn’t want any visitors right now. “Hold on a moment…”

She places the phone down momentarily “…come in!”

She puts the phone back to her ear “Ok I’m back.”  She watches as the door opens and her husband, Kurt Logan, walks in.  A broad grin forms across her face as she mouths the word “hi” to him.

“Just do whatever you have to, ok?  Go over those contracts with a fine tooth comb.  I want to know any and every advantage I have, got it?  Good.”

She hangs up the phone and then looks over at Kurt. “Funny seeing you here.”

“I thought I’d surprise you.” He motions to the phone. “Problems at work?”

“Yeah,” Glory says, nodding her head “you could say that.”

“Anything I can do to help?”

“No,” she shakes her head “unless you know a way to convince Malakai Laymon and Whitecloud to drop off the face of the earth.”

Kurt chuckles. He understands full well the problems that Glory is going through right now in MCW.  Malakai and Whitecloud have taken over MCW in a hostile takeover and that has left Glory to try her damndest to fight for the honor and memory of MCW and to fight to make sure honesty and justice prevails.  It’s a familiar situation for The British Bombshell. All throughout her career whether she was fighting the monstrous Dante or the arrogant Eric Sailes or whether she was defending GCW from the likes of the evil Matt Alan she has always found herself in the role of the defender, the hero.  So she’s used to this role, but it doesn’t make it any easier for her.

Kurt walks over to his wife and plants a kiss on her forehead.  He runs a hand through her long hair and smiles warmly down at her. “It’ll be ok, babe.  I know you’ll make it ok.”

“Thanks, Kurt, I needed that vote of confidence.”

“Still, I have to ask, why bother?”

“What do you mean?” Glory asks, furrowing her brow.

“What do you bother fighting these battles?  Why do you put yourself in harm’s way and why do it for MCW?”

“Well Kurt, MCW is a special place for me.  I held the MCW World Championship on three separate occasions and I was inducted into the MCW Hall of Fame in 2012.  My legacy is forever etched into that place.  But unlike Jacob Laymon, Kirsta Lewis, and others, there is another reason I fight.”

She sighs. “It’s simply the right thing to do.”

Kurt shrugs his shoulders. “I guess so…”

Glory stands up and kisses Kurt gently on his lips. “Kurt, do you remember what I was like when I ran Original Intent in GCW?”

“Yes, I do.” Kurt says, chuckling as he nods his head.

“I was just as bad as Malakai and Whitecloud, if not worse.  I tried to throw my weight around, I tried to rule GCW with an iron fist.  I tried to take over via force.  I used manipulation to force my will on a good friend, Sophie O’Brian, and now she’s a worse sociopath than ever before and I can’t help but think I’m at least partially to blame for that.”

Glory sighs. “This is my redemption, Kurt.  I need to prove to the world that the Glory Braddock who brought GCW back and made it a success is still here and that I can still be that great executive, that I can still be a great promoter.”

She nods her head. “I can make up for Original Intent.”

“And I know you still want to be the world champion in GCW…”

“Yeah,” Glory nods her head “I definitely want that.  And I’ll get back to that spot after I defeat Julia at For Glory & Gold.”

“I don’t doubt you will, babe.  Just be careful.” Kurt embraces Glory. “Don’t take on too much at once, don’t take on the entire world like you always want to.  You know?”

Glory chuckles lightly. “Yeah, I do have a tendency to take on the world don’t I?  But it goes with the territory when you are The Best in the World.”

“You want to be a great executive, you want to be a great wrestler, just make sure you pace yourself.  Don’t take on too much at once.”

“I understand.” She nods her head. “And I appreciate the concern, love, but I have things firmly under control.”
